RECRUITER WORK ETHICS:

HOW DOING WHAT IS RIGHT IN KEY SITUATIONS WILL INCREASE YOUR PERFORMANCE

  • A client tells you they are leaving the day before your candidate’s final interview. Your candidate wants the job in part because they want to work for your client. Do you tell the candidate?
  • You do references and find out some pretty questionable stuff but your client, in an urgent rush and high adrenaline Type A, never mentions references and emails you an offer.
  • Your candidate is your MPC, they just don’t know they are your MPC, and they call you and say their boss has asked them if they are looking because they “heard their CV is getting around”. What do you say?

You must know what is ethical in our business, and what the right thing to do is in some consistently reccurring situations, and then you must honour the spirit of what is right, and make the right choice, even if it costs you the placement.

Here’s the good news. The most ethical recruiters see an increase in their billings over time from doing the right thing. The recruiter who makes an expedient choice to close a placement or pay some bills, has a very short career.

TOPIC 2

OBJECTIONS OVERRULED!

We Shall Overcome Objections: But which ones? Some are merely brush- offs, and there is nothing to overcome and it’s best you end the call and move on. Some are opportunities, and with the right approach, the right wording, and large enough...uh, nerve...you can uncover the need and create a placement.

Today’s Objections are a far cry from what they used to be. In this market, you don’t get “no vacancies”, you get:

“We’re using a lower cost agency”.

“We have FaceBook and LinkedIn and we’re doing it ourselves”.

“You’re not on our preferred suppliers list, which is longer than War and Peace”.

“You have to go through HR”.

Uncover the negotiating “style” your client uses.

Counter it with no nonsense, easy to use rebuttals that will position you to gather the information you need to close.
